This is an association of independent UK-registered organisations of various sizes, one of whose principal activities is the provision of high quality structured programmes in the UK or overseas. Members agree to adhere to a Code of Practice. Projects Abroad comply with British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector drafted by BSI in conjunction with the Year Out Group.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award www.dofe.org Projects Abroad are an Approved Activity Provider for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, providing worthwhile Residential programmes for volunteers working towards their Gold Award. Open to anyone aged 14 to 24, the DofE is a leading charity in the UK which encourages teamwork and social interaction, and helps young people to stand out from the crowd when applying for university and jobs. Doing their DofE offers young people the chance to experience new activities and develop their existing skills.
FCO Know Before You Go campaign www.gov.uk/knowbeforeyougo As a partner in the Know Before You Go campaign Projects Abroad are working with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to help travellers stay safe overseas. The FCO website is packed with essential travel advice, and up to date country information.
Expedition Providers Association www.expeditionprovidersassociation.co.uk/ Projects Abroad Group Trips are an aspiring member of the Expedition Providers Association. EPA is a membership organisation for the overseas youth expedition sector, and is the awarding body for the Learning Outside the Classroom Badge. Since EPA was formed in 2003 it has been working hard to promote best practice in the schools and youth expeditions sector.
Nepal Youth Foundation (UK) www.nepalyouthfoundation.org.uk/ Projects Abroad has partnered with Nepal Youth Foundation (UK) to help repair and rebuild schools that were damaged in the April 2015 earthquake that struck that country. Founded in 1990, Nepal Youth Foundation (UK) offers hope and opportunity to Nepal’s most impoverished children by providing them with every child’s birth right: vital healthcare, education and a safe environment. NYF (UK) forms part of a growing global organisation with its head office based in California, its operations office appropriately located in Kathmandu, and three further offices worldwide. In the decades we have been working with children in Nepal, NYF has expanded not only in the number of children supported, which now reaches well over 50,000, but also in the ways in which we help them. Though not a disaster relief agency, we continue to be guided by our mission and have redirected some of our efforts to help the survivors of the devastating earthquakes.

UEA Development Studies Department www.uea.ac.uk Projects Abroad are approved by the UEA School of Development Studies who give their students the option of completing their work experience unit on a Projects Abroad placement.
Year in Industry (YINI) www.yini.org.uk The YINI Combo package is a unique solution which meets the demands of today’s career-savvy, globe-trotting young people. The nine-month YINI work placement provides students with their all important first step on the career ladder – gaining valuable industry experience, developing skills and earning a salary. While the new addition of a three-month travel option, from one of four leading gap year organisations, now means participants can also explore stunning parts of the world, take part in worthwhile volunteer projects and further enhance their transferable skills. Projects Abroad are an approved partner of YINI, specialising in arranging voluntary placements in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe. The new YINI Combo travel placements commence when you have completed your YINI work placement.
British Safety Council www.britishsafetycouncil.co.uk Projects Abroad works as a partner with the British Safety Council helping to provide training courses on Health and Safety at Work to students in our destinations around the world. Volunteers can opt to join a free training course in the UK before they go overseas and train the students overseas.
Shark Defenders www.sharkdefenders.com/ Projects Abroad is working with Shark Defenders on our Shark Conservation and Global Shark Campaign. Shark Defenders focus on establishing shark sanctuaries and supporting the proper management of shark and ray species worldwide.
Support Our Sharks and Sharkbase www.supportoursharks.com and www.shark-base.org These two shark focussed conservation sites were established by Dr Ryan Kempster, who volunteered with Projects Abroad on the Marine Conservation project in Thailand in 2008. Ryan was inspired by his conservation experience in Thailand to pursue a career in marine biology, and he is now a leader in shark conservation based at the University of Western Australia. Ryan and his team are supporting Projects Abroad’s Global Shark Campaign.

The Neem Tree Trust www.neemtreetrust.org.uk The Neem Tree Trust was set up by Kathy Miller who travelled to India with Projects Abroad in September 1999. Its objective is to advance the education and vocational training of the residents of a disabled boys' home located near to Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, South India and to help relieve poverty amongst the children and young people in the area.
